What to Look for in a Chevy Dealer

One of the first things we tend to think of when shopping for a new car is the type of car that we want as well as what types of features we desire in a new car. Unfortunately, we do not often give much thought to what we should be looking for in a dealer or a car salesman. As a result, the type of experience we have in the purchase process is much left up to luck and that can impact how pleasurable the purchase of that new car turns out to be.

If you’re in the market for a new Chevrolet it is important to take the time to find out what to look for in a dealer and car salesman to make sure you have the best buying experience possible.

One of the first things you should look for in a dealer and a car salesman is honesty. Toward that end; however, it is also important that you start off on the right foot by showing them honesty in return. There’s certainly nothing wrong with browsing and if that’s all you’re doing and not really in the market to purchase a car right at that time, be up front and tell them that. Then, when you do return at a later time and intend to make a purchase you can be sure you will be treated with respect and honesty.

It is also a good idea to check on the dealership’s Consumer Satisfaction Index score. Also known as the CSI, this information is taken from surveys that the Chevrolet manufacturer sends out to buyers who have actually purchase vehicles from that dealer. Every single week the dealer receives a grade that is based on service, sales and parts. Then a report is sent out every month that is based on those scores. Getting this information in your hands before you start working with a dealer will tell you what kind of quality you can expect from the dealer. If you ask for the information directly from the dealer, it also lets them know you are a savvy shopper and that you won’t hesitate to report any problems that might come up directly to Chevrolet.

Other important key points to look for when you are beginning the vehicle buying process includes the following:

Patience-Gauge how quickly a salesman approaches you when you enter the dealer lot. You want to find someone who falls in the middle ground here.

Obviously, you don’t want to work with someone who practically attacks you as soon as you open your car door but you also want to find someone who will take the time necessary to stroll around the lot with you and help with any questions you might have.

Attentive-Look for someone who will listen to your needs, what you want, and make suggestions that will meet your needs and desires. Avoid a dealer or salesman who just seems to want to sell you the most expensive Chevy on the lot regardless of whether it really meets your needs.

Knowledgeable-Look for someone who clearly knows what is on their Chevrolet lot.

Honesty-Of course, as previously mentioned, look for someone who will provide you with honest answers. Avoid dealers and salesmen who can’t just simply tell you they don’t have an answer if they do not know something.

Overall, look for a dealer and salesman who you feel comfortable and relaxed working with, who is truly interested in your needs and who is up front and honest.

Following these tips and guidelines the next time you’re shopping for a new Chevrolet will help you to find the dealer and salesman who can make your buying experience the best possible.
